I’ve long admired the annual Antipodean tradition of “Mo-vember,” allowing men to grow their bushiest whiskers in support of the fight against Prostate Cancer. Traditionally, I like to grow a beard in September…a good excuse to give my sensitive skin a break while I ramp up my Fall marathon training. So imagine my happy surprise when I discovered the US charitable counterpart to Mo-vember: “Septem-beard!” And while only a HALF Marathon is on my September running schedule, I’m excited to bring our my Inner Caveman and at the same time raise Awareness and Donations to combat the scourge of Prostate Cancer, a major killer of Men.
Here’s how you can help:
- *Don’t make fun of my beard!
- *Do cheer me on via Twitter as I run the Hamptons Half Marathon on September 29.
- *Make a donation to my efforts online at http://septembeard.org/team/952/
My dad always had facial hair, so it’s fun to look in the mirror and see him staring back at me for a few weeks every year! Who knows? Maybe my beard will “grow on” you, ha ha!
Some other beard sporting fellas. Who are your faves??
t’s “SeptemBeard!” Help me raise awareness & $$ to fight Prostate Cancer, while I bring out my “Inner Caveman!” http://septembeard.org/team/952/
