NELSON'S RUNNING

RUNNING REPORT - 2016

With every year that passes, I am increasingly grateful for the ability to run at all...let alone to make strides (pun intended) in performance, overall fitness and finding joy in the simple act of lacing up and heading out the door. While work & travel may have prevented me from participating in as many organized events as I might have liked, it afforded me many opportunities to run in exotic locations from the Hamptons to Hong Kong, in assorted challenging or scenic conditions and with good friends and colleagues. It's been another wonderful year of early mornings with Coach Baker and Trainers Josh & Frankie. Mixing it up, I hope, will keep me running all the days of my life! A big "thank you" to them--and all my other running friends around the world who continue to share their enthusiasm across the miles. Bonus: when I tallied up my annual mileage, it was not only beyond my goal...it ended up being my third-highest since I started keeping track way back in 2003, and 120 miles up on last year. Obviously, every step counts!

January
*Joe Kleinerman 10k, Central Park (56:07)
Overall 2607/5222, Gender 1800/2789, Age 156/260 Age-Graded Time 48:18

*Scotland Run 10k, Central Park (55:11) Overall 3853/8147, Gender 2716/4318, Age 186/330 Age-Graded Time 48:15
Amazing how briskly you run when you have a plane to catch! I finished this one by 9am, home by 9:12 for a shower, caught a cab at 9:40 and was on an 11am flight to Los Angeles!

November
*Race to Deliver 4 miler, Central Park (37:11)
Overall 2424/5016, Gender 1455/2246, Age 108/172 Age-Graded Time 32:03

December
*Ted Corbitt 15k (1:28:54) Overall 2678/4669, Gender 1671/2335, Age 127/193 Age-Graded Time 1:17:20 Sub-freezing but always fun...and only seconds off my time from last year, so age isn't yet slowing me down!

Here are some other memorable (non-scored) moments in my year of Running!
